Thursday thoughts

I drove our new (to us) car on Tuesday evening to take the dog (Kirby) to agility class.  I was abnormally excited to drive it- is that weird??
*two*
Speaking of agility- I signed Kirby up for his first agility trial.  It’s in Alpharetta, GA.  In early September.  After signing up, I realized that I will probably look like a fool.  Because I will be 29 weeks pregnant.  Running after a dog who is MUCH faster than me (even when I’m not pregnant).  At an outdoor trial in Georgia.  In early September (aka still summer).   I might be crazy.  Luckily the trial arena is covered and I only signed us up for one day so I wouldn’t wear myself out completely.

The weekend after the outdoor agility trial is an indoor agility trial.  In which I will be running 2 dogs- probably over a period of 2 days.  Did I mention I *might* be crazy???  But after that trial we are done for the foreseeable future with agility.

I’m starting to freak out a little about how much more stuff we still need to do/prepare before baby D makes his appearance.  I have 17 weeks left- and I feel like they are just going to FLY by.

Is it the weekend yet?  Does anyone have anything fun planned?  I still am dying to go swimming somewhere since it’s been so hot.  Maybe I need to get motivated and plan a little swimming trip somewhere close by.

Thursday thoughts…

I walked to work today- granted it was only a little under 2 miles, but I was pretty proud of myself.  I’m trying to be better about working out now that the 1st trimester yucks are over.  We walk our dogs every morning and I try to use the elliptical 2-3 times a week.  This extra walk was a nice added bonus!

The tree got taken down on Monday (the one that fell on our fence).  I’m so glad that got taken care of quickly.  Now if only the fence company and I could stop playing phone tag so we can have them come out and take care of the broken fence.

We have the most amazing pet sitter- I was worried last week about not being able to find someone to watch the dogs while we were in the hospital with baby D.  I emailed her and she is totally willing to be on call for us, even though I’m due around Thanksgiving.  Amazing.  So grateful!!

I might be jinxing myself by announcing this on the blog…but since the photo sessions for our dogs aren’t working out with my friend (she’s out of town this week) I’m going to try to do one of my own!! I’m using the camera below- wish me luck!  If they turn out somewhat decent I’ll post a few…promise!

My new office chair showed up today!!  And the curtains tomorrow.  Looking forward to getting those unpacked and set up in their new home.  I also have plans for some of the pictures that go in the office.  Again, might be jinxing myself by writing this here, but I REALLY hope to have an office photo post for y’all next week!!

Thursday thoughts…on a Friday

Whoops!  Thursday snuck up on me this week- I guess that’s what happens when you have a holiday in the middle of the week.  So…better late than never:

*one*
We had a big storm here on Tuesday and part of a tree from the property behind our house (empty lot) fell on our fence- boo.  Not exactly what we wanted to come home to!  T was able to get it off the fence but we need to have someone come out and fix the fence itself.  Luckily it was the chain-link portion of our fence and not the wood.  The tree that lost its top is now just a trunk, and there are still two giant branches hanging up in another tree, teetering precariously above our fence- lets hope those stay up there until Monday when the tree guys come to take care of all of that (courtesy of the property owner).
*two*
I ordered new curtains and a new desk chair for my office- very exciting!  One step closer to having it put back together.  Right now it’s a disaster, but I’ll hopefully have it cleaned up enough to share some photos with you after the weekend.

We have a somewhat bizarre predicament that I’m not sure what we’re going to do about- baby D is due November 21st- the day before Thanksgiving.  I’m pretty certain he won’t pick that day to show up (but he might!)  There’s no way to plan exactly when he’ll show up or how long I’ll be in the hospital (which is luckily only 4 miles down the road from us).  My concern is our 3 dogs, one who needs someone with him at night (we use an overnight pet sitter when we leave town).  I’m not sure how to handle this, since T can’t come home at night from the hospital before baby D is born, seeing as he might miss the birth.  I’ve contacted our regular pet sitter about this, but it’s hard to have someone on call around a holiday.  Any creative ideas?  This is one reason why it’s hard not having family in the area…

It’s been so hot here for the past week+ that I’m retaining water- which sucks.  No cankles yet (thank goodness) but my fingers feel like sausages- the other day I couldn’t put on any of my rings.  #pregnantwomanproblems.

I’m not sure I have a five…hmm.  I guess I’ll leave it there- hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Thursday thoughts…

*one*
This week has gone by SO slowly.  It hasn’t helped that I’m exhausted- yesterday I swear I was going to curl up and take a nap under my desk- the only thing that stopped me was the fact that my floor is linoleum and uncomfortable.  I don’t know whether it’s because I pushed myself over the weekend painting or baby D is going through a very large growth spurt- either way I can barely keep my eyes open.
*two*
We are apparently having a heat wave here in the south- it’s supposed to be 105 (!!) here starting Friday and lasting through the weekend.  That’s just too hot for me.  My heart goes out to all those preggo ladies in the last couple of months of pregnancy- I can’t imagine being 8 months pregnant in the heat!!  I myself am planning on hiding inside with the AC most of the weekend and possibly going swimming?
*three*
All this hot weather makes me want popsicles…and watermelon.  I’ve been really bummed about the last two watermelons I’ve bought- they’ve been less than spectacular.  Come on- this is Georgia!!  We’re supposed to have amazing watermelons- where are these crappy ones coming from, Washington state??  I’m hoping the store has some good ones, because now I REALLY want one!
*four*
A friend of mine is coming over this evening to take some pictures of our dogs.  It’s a surprise for my husband for his birthday (he’s obviously not going to be home).  I want some decent ones of Jackson, the old man of the pack at 13, since he’s not going to be around forever.  This photo shoot has tried to happen (unsuccessfully) 3 times now- it’s been ruined by the weather every single time.  Today might be no different, considering it’s going to get to 100 today.  Jackson does not take a pretty photo anyway, and when his tongue is a mile long…eh.  We’ll see what happens but I don’t have high hopes.  If they turn out well I will share on the blog though!!

Saturday we will have had our youngest dog Kirby for a year!  Wow- I can’t believe it’s already been a year, and how far he’s come in that time.  He is a little ball of energy and when we first adopted him I seriously wondered what had gotten into us.  He’s grown up in the time we’ve had him and is *sometimes* better behaved than our other two!  He has his moments though.  Happy gotcha day Kirb-derb!!

Thursday thoughts…

I’m going to make an attempt at starting a new (for my blog) tradition- a few blogs I follow do this and I like it. So here goes nothing- enjoy the randomness that is floating around in my brain right now!!

*one*
I love thursdays.  Not quite as much as I love Friday afternoons, but it’s a close tie.  Right now I really love them because that’s when our midwife appointments are.  I especially anticipating our upcoming appointment on July 5th…!  I also love Thursdays because I have agility class with our youngest furbaby Kirby.  He LOVES class and it’s so much fun to see him grow up and use his brain.  We switch to Tuesday classes starting next week- I suppose then I will also love Tuesdays?
*two*
That reminds me- we’re using a midwife for this pregnancy!  I’d always thought I’d go the OBGYN route, but our local hospital has a midwife clinic associated with it.  I get all the benefits of a midwife, but will still give birth at the hospital.  It’s been a really great experience so far and I’m so glad we decided to go this route.

Hmm, apparently the theme of Thursday Thoughts this week is pregnancy.  Oh well- running with it.  This is actually my 2nd pregnancy.  Last year I was pregnant (and did use an OBGYN) and had a missed miscarriage.  Dealing with the aftermath of that was somewhat traumatic- I won’t go into details but it wasn’t a simple D&C and done.  It was almost enough to make me re-think having children period- but luckily I came around.  And funnily enough, I am due Nov 21st with this baby- a year and 3 days after our first baby was due.  Coincidence?
*four*
Ok on to lighter subjects!!  I am painting (hopefully) my office this weekend.  Not my work office (although it could use a new paint job but has 15′ high ceilings so you won’t catch me attempting that!)- my home office/extra room/place to toss all my junk.  I’ve always disliked the blue color I chose- it reads purple in most lights.  So a new color is going on this weekend!!  Don’t worry- I will buy low VOC paint, wear a respirator AND open the windows, just to be safe!

I have yet to knit my own child something- and I’m almost to the halfway point.  Yikes!  I’ve knit for 2 friends now that are due soon- well, one is actually a week and a half overdue.  Yet I cannot for the life of me find the motivation to pick up the needles for this baby.  Maybe once we find out the sex.  Also all my yarn is buried in the upstairs bedroom- I’m not certain I can find everything I need to do any knitting (although I think this is just an excuse for my lack of desire to knit).
